OnePlus has introduced a brand new smartphone line with the OnePlus Ace in China. The device and range are similar to Oppo’s way of restoring the lost “Ace” sub-series marked by devices such as the Oppo Reno Ace. The device arrived last month with exciting specifications. Interestingly, it became official in India as the OnePlus 10R. In essence, the device is a refreshed Realme GT Neo 3 that carries the same set and the same versions as Realme’s flagship killer smartphone. It hasn’t been long since the release of the OnePlus Ace and OnePlus is back, as expected, with the OnePlus Ace Racing Edition. Despite the “Racing” name, the device is actually a cheaper variant with some hardware cuts to make it more affordable. However, it is still powerful thanks to the same processor as its bigger brother.
OnePlus Ace Racing Edition Specifications
The OnePlus Ace Racing Edition was released with the same MediaTek Dimensity 8100 MAX SoC found on its older sibling. Despite the complaints, the company is almost certain of its custom processor. OnePlus has just released its new smartphone in China. The device has a 6.59 inch Full HD + IPS LCD screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The phone also has a center slot with a hole in the upper left corner, unlike its sibling which has a center slot. The display supports 240 Hz touch input response.
Focus on performance
Under the hood, the phone runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX SoC. The processor is combined with up to 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, there is no support for micro SD cards, so there is no expansion. The phone draws its power from a huge 5,000 mAh battery with a fast charge of 67 W. This is less than the OnePlus Ace available in variants with a fast charge of 80 W or 150 W. However, the 67 W is still quite fast. The phone weighs about 205 grams and is 8.7 mm thick. Other features include a side-by-side fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. Surprisingly, the device has a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The phone also has stereo speakers with Dirac support.
Moving to the back, the phone has a triple camera setting. There is also a 64 MP main camera sensor, an 8 MP wide angle shooter and a 2 MP macroscope. For selfies and video calls, the phone has a 16 MP front camera. OnePlus Ace Racing Edition runs Android 12 straight from the box. In China, the device runs Color OS 12.1 on top.
Surprisingly, Razer and OnePlus have teamed up to enhance the “gaming” feel of this device. The two companies tried to recreate Razer’s BlackWidow and Mercury keyboards. Tactile feedback tries to simulate keystrokes via the phone’s X-axis linear motor.
Pricing and Availability
The base model has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage and costs 1,900 CNY. There is also a variant with 8 GB rAM and 256 GB internal storage that costs 2,200 CNY. Finally, the variant with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage costs 2,400 CNY. The phone is sold in gray and blue colors.
