There are smartphones that do not lose their value over time. When you read this, we assume that most of you are thinking about the iPhone. Obviously, it is. But what about other smartphones? Recently, SellCell conducted a survey to determine which smartphone is depreciating faster.

When you buy a premium smartphone, you are paying almost the same amount of money. We mean this category offers great models, but you should be prepared to pay a fortune for them. This statement applies to almost all flagships. But will they cost the same after a certain period of time? No!

price changes

With that in mind, SellCell has analyzed data on flagships made by Apple, Samsung and Google. After collecting data from the release of the iPhone 13, Samsung Galaxy S22 and Google Pixel 6, the source analyzed them. As a result, it was decided which smartphone has the highest depreciation rate.

Depreciation rate of emblematic smartphones

Among the smartphones analyzed, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series loses its value faster than its competitors. For the Samsung model, it is about 50%, followed by the Pixel 6 range of about 42%, and the iPhone 13 range of only 18%. (These are average numbers for “good” and “like new” conditions).

By the way, no one has a worse performance than the Samsung Galaxy S22 + 5G (128 GB). The depreciation rates for this model are 57.5% (Good) and 53.8% (As new) in the two months since its release. So in two months, this phone loses up to $ 574.99 in value.

As for Google’s worst performance, it is the Pixel 6 Pro (256 GB). The latter recorded a devaluation of 47.9% (Good) and 45.7% (As new) in the two months after the release. When converted to dollars, it is up to $ 479.00.

Finally, the iPhone 13 mini has a payback rate of 9.3%. At the same time, the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max (128GB) has the best performance of the brand. Its depreciation rates are 4.7% (Good) and 3.8% (like new). In other words, when you buy this smartphone, after two months, it will only cost $ 52 less.

We found something similar in a survey conducted a year ago.

“As we already know, the iPhone is a champion in terms of maintaining value, ostensibly avoiding knockout hits at the value that initially fell on the Galaxy S22 and Pixel 6 series. However, with an increase in value for the Pixel 6 and a drop of value for the Galaxy S22, we may well see both series of smartphone flagships regaining their value in the same way that (again) the iPhone 13. Do you want to see for yourself? “You can see the prices to sell an iPhone yourself and see how much value the devices hold!”
