It took several years, but obviously, the Android tablet segment is finally back. After years of lack of relevance due to lack of software experience, companies saw a huge demand for large devices after the pandemic. Even Google “noticed” how important tablets are and decided to improve Android on these devices. Xiaomi returned with its Pad line and the BBK Electronics group decided to promote its brands in the tablet category. After the Realme Pad, we saw Oppo and Vivo follow with the respective “Pads”. Now, having made an Oppo Pad with a “flagship”, the Chinese brand is preparing the ground for a mid-range competitor. The new device will be was launched later this month and will be named Oppo Pad Air.

Obviously, Oppo will not make much of a buzz about this tablet release. The brand has put slate in pre-orders through its Chinese handles. Interestingly, the company listing reveals that the new tablet will have support for the Oppo Pencil. This is not a big surprise, after all, the Oppo Pencil is quite “basic” compared to the Samsung S-Pen for example. The images in the listing also revealed that it will offer support for a keyboard case. Maybe the company will release a new folio keyboard case to accompany this mid-range tablet. It may have a more affordable price than the one that comes with the Oppo Pad with Snapdragon 870 SoC.

Oppo Pad Air Specifications

The Oppo Pad Air will feature a 10.36-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Under the hood, the tablet will carry the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC that comes with Adreno 610 GPU. This processor is not the most powerful to date. In fact, it looks like a Snapdragon 662/665 built in a modern 6 nm architecture. It is more about saving energy than about brute force. That said, you will be able to run daily, study and work-related applications without much hassle. However, it may not be the best for gaming.

The device will be accompanied by a large 7,100 mAh battery with a fast charge of 18 W. There will also be a Quad-Stereo Speaker with Dolby Atmos Audio. The tablet will also come with a single rear camera and a selfie snapper. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine the resolution of the cameras at this time. After all, we expect no more than a 13 MP main camera and an 8 MP selfie camera. In terms of software, the tablet will most likely run Android 12 OS with ColorOS 12 on top.

The Oppo Pad Air will probably be released worldwide in the coming months.
